About Us

I am Ayşe, a graphic designer, and I discovered ceramics around the time my first child, Ali, was a baby. This coincidental overlap made me feel that designing ceramics and raising a child share similar emotions and motivations. Just like a piece of raw clay, children are shaped by the skills, dedication, and love of their parents. Watching every stage of this process and finally seeing the character that emerges is a unique joy, much like the satisfaction of creating a ceramic piece. That's why I named my brand after the words my son used when he couldn't quite say "meme" (breast) and instead called me "mem." And so, Mem Design was born alongside my first son, Ali, growing and changing with him.

As a designer, I believe in creating joyful designs that brighten the happy moments and memories in our lives. I truly believe that happiness itself is often hidden in the little moments of our daily lives. Keeping this in mind, as a family, we started our journey with the goal of creating products which will bring bliss & warmth during their use. By playing with different colors and patterns, I feel like I’m traveling all around the world. Painting, glazing and firing each piece with my own hands feels wonderful and as a family, we do everything as if we are making them for our own use. We hope you enjoy these pieces as much as we do!

I love having objects in my living space that make me happy, that make me feel good when I look at or touch them. In the midst of daily routines, these moments of interaction with such objects bring energy to my day. I always try to design and produce my products with this insight.

The idea of spreading this happiness to different homes, reaching people in places I’ve never been and maybe never will, and accompanying their moments with something positive is incredibly exciting for me.
